Any Oppos have experience with electric conversions? My rambling search for a second car has brought me to the idea, I would probably get a festiva or metro or something for a base since they’re so light and I love festivas in particular. After some preliminary research it seems most hook the motor directly to the existing trans and use that, but if possible I think I’d rather use a small motor for each wheel and go AWD, though I can’t find much info on how this would be done which leads me to believe it’s difficult and/or expensive. It seems like this could be relatively cheap though, it’s seems it’s not hard to find batteries for free and a donor car with a busted motor wouldn’t be much. Any input greatly appreciated!

I had the same thought but after about an hour of Google-Fu, I came to the conclusion that it would be cheaper to just buy a used Nissan Leaf. Batteries as it turns out are really fucking expensive.
